Your New Year Resolutions for 2011
I will make this very easy. Repeat after me, “In 2011, I will make the following New Year's Resolutions...
• I will stop complaining about how bad things are. In a $14 trillion US economy, I know I can find a few new customers that can help my business. Complaining about it doesn’t help. I vow to limit my complaining only to Mondays.
• I will focus on selling painkillers. At the beginning of the year, I will survey my customers and ask them their greatest pains. I will fashion my company services around what they need, not what I want to sell.
• I will only keep talking to prospects that have the ability to pay for what I am selling. I will separate out the “Lookie- Loos” from the real buyers so I can increase my sales productivity.
• I will not lower my price as a marketing strategy. I will have confidence in what my company sells and I will not lower my price in an effort to win the business. I will focus on prospects that value what I sell to solve their pain.
• I will get out of my office more and actually meet with customers and vendors face to face. I will not only rely on phone calls and emails, but will extend my relationships by meeting people IRL (In Real Life).
• I will attend at least one industry event this year in order to meet new people and learn. When at the conference, I will not spend the entire day working on issues that are happening back at the office.
• I will learn at least one new skill this year. I realize that “old dogs can learn new tricks” and I will seek education in an area I am particularly bad or afraid.
• I will fight “anywhen” and will set an oasis in my life. I will take one vacation of 7 days or longer this year without my work computer. I will go at least one day this year without using my work cell phone.
• I will be proud that I am a small business owner. I will celebrate the big achievement of creating my own company and supporting my family through my own vision and hard work.
