Workers Prefer Online Pay Stubs
Who knew that we recently lived through National Payroll Week? I’m not sure what else occurs during this particular week, but one organization conducted a survey called "Getting Paid in America," something all of us can celebrate during any old week of the year.
The survey revealed that 62 percent of those polled would rather view their pay stub online, as opposed to receiving a printed record of it. Of course, this works only for employees who opt to have their paycheck directly deposited into their bank account.
There are at least two positive results of paperless paydays: One, companies reduce costs by cutting down on paper; two, the environment wins when any company uses less paper.
The American Payroll Association -- which founded National Payroll Week (Sept. 1-5 this year) and made the "Getting Paid in America" survey part of payroll week -- also has a "Go Green with Your Green Campaign." The latter informs workers about environmentally friendly payment options."
Every litter bit helps.
