When is the Best Time to Call on People?
What Are the Best Days for Calling on People?
I was talking with one of my friends last week about selling and prospecting. One of the things we talked about was whether or not there are better or worse days for calling on people. When I say "calling on people" I mean both in person or on the phone. And "the people" could be leads, prospects or current customers.
Anyone who spends time calling on people knows why this is something you need to think about. You can save a lot of time by calling on people when they're available and in a mood to talk rather than when they're busy.
Also, I think it's simply professional and polite to try to call on people at times that are appropriate for them. You're doing them a courtesy, even if they don't realize it. Doing so makes you stand out from the crowd of everyone else who ignores this concept.
We concluded that for small retail businesses, Mondays were generally not a good day to call on the owners. And Fridays can be challenging too. The best days seemed to be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
If you are in a business where you call on clients, customers, prospects or leads, what days work best for you? Or what days tend to be less productive?
