Yesterday I came across a very interesting blog promotion project, “My Super Proposal” via a peer in the SEO industry that concerns a fellow who is trying to get a major Super Bowl advertiser to sponsor him proposing to his girlfriend during the Super Bowl.
Doritos and The NFL are running contests where consumers can pitch ideas for their Super Bowl commercials and this fellow, “JP” hopes to draw enough attention to his situation so that he can film a marriage proposal to be shown on a Super Bowl commercial.
A lofty goal to be sure. The project started out as an attempt to get enough donations to film a commerical and purchase air time, but alas, Super Bowl commercials sold out. Money raised that does not go towards a commercial or similar expense will be donated to a Children’s Hopspital.
Many people in the advertising, search marketing and blogging world are rallying support for this unique cause by linking to the My Super Proposal site and by blogging about it. There’s been enough so far that NPR and USA Today have interviewed JP for stories and more media interviews are scheduled.
