So How Do You Set a Revenue Goal? Start with Your Environment
Small business owners, entrepreneurs, and sales people - did you start off January 1st with a big plan, but now find it is difficult to execute on? We'll be exploring this throughout the year.
My mom used to say, The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Instead of having the best of intentions - why not make at least ONE of your big goals happen. I am working on four: a revenue goal, an inspiration goal, a non-profit goal, and a health goal. Not only am I intending to accomplish each of these, I am working hard to leverage my surroundings to help set me up to win.
To do this, you need to think about your environment. What are you reading? Where are you going? What four or five people are you spending the most time with? How often do you set planning and reviewing time? (Franklin-Covey calls this, "Q2" time - we'll be talking more about that this year.)
For each of my goals I have a team in place. They are different people for each of the areas because I need different expertise. I am reading materials on the web and in print that support my goals.
Do you have a note pad (digital or old school) to write ideas as they come to you, or to list "to-do's" that you need to make happen.
So how is your environment? Post your thoughts on what you are doing to be successful this time around - and we'll compare notes as we go. Team effort, right?
