Pottery Barn Opening Flagship in Atlanta
Pottery Barn made a move that surely has Atlanta shopoholics smiling and shop-til-they-drop types in other cities deep green with envy. The trendy home furnishings store -- part of the Williams-Sonoma family -- announced plans to open its largest store in July at Atlanta's Lenox Square mall.
The new flagship store will spread out over 33,000 square feet and be situated near another trendsetter and shopper favorite, Bloomingdale's.
Pottery Barn started with one store in Lower Manhattan, in 1949, a decade before Lenox Square -- now one of the Southeast's largest shopping malls -- opened in 1959. Today, Pottery Barn operates 200 retail stores, and Lenox Square is home to 250 retailers.
After this news gets out, the airlines may see July bookings to Atlanta increase as this will be nirvana for serious shoppers.
