Podcast Resumes?
Podcasts are too easy to do to not use for building your brand. What about building your brand as a knowledge worker or job seeker?
Why not indeed! I think that anything we can do to help a recruiter or hiring manager get to know who we really are, is great. Resumes are standard. What if you also had a blog and podcast that employers could review?
A virtual portfolio.
Also, the act of creating a podcast(s) would help clarify and strengthen your elevator speech.
Hmmm.... maybe I will do this. Not that I am looking for a job, but create a podcast about the types of projects I seek and how I work. It would be good to share what I think is my sweet spot with regards to management and leadership coaching and development. And a little bit about the speech topics that get my blood rushing. Perhaps a wee demo. All on the podcast.
What about you? How might you use a podcast to further your career/work goals?
If you are a manager, how might you use podcasts to better connect with your employees and help them succeed? Should you buy all your employees an iPod? Some companies do that. I have heard about a nursing home that bought iPods for their residents loaded with information and education. Salespeople who have product training on iPods.
What about a podcast "book?" Never in printed form - only in podcast form......
Hmmm.... food for thought for the weekend.
P.S. - If you have a recommendation for a portable field recorder that can easily be converted into MP3 or WAV for a podcast, let me know. I'd like to do some "woman on the street" type interviews. I bought a digital recorder that I am not happy with.
