Like Ziglar, "Go-Giver" Lives Life Looking Out for Others
One of the best things about Bob Burg, co-author of the new “Go-Givers Sell More,” is that he didn't just "discover" giving to others.
You know the type. As if suddenly finding religion, they profess to see the light and turn into someone far removed from who they’ve been most of their lives. You wonder if they are on the level or are just being expedient in pursuit of a dollar.
Not Burg. He says he had great parents and grew up with the philosophy of helping others. He had plenty of opportunities to see in action how successful people were driven to bring other people along on the ride.
In my previous blog, I wrote about the spirit of giving captured in “The Go-Giver” and “Go-Givers Sell More,” both of which were written by Burg and John David Mann. In learning more about Burg, I was delighted to see he’s a great fan of Zig Ziglar and in fact not long ago presented Zig with the first Annual Go-Giver Lifetime Achievement Award.
In his blog, Burg quotes one of my favorite lines from Ziglar: “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” Those who know Ziglar know he has lived his life exactly that way and those who know Burg see the same qualities in him.
I recommend subscribing to Burg’s blog. It’s straightforward, clearly written and informative. He draws lots of comments, too, which always is a very good sign.
Here’s a brief video interview with Burg about shifting your focus from “I” to “others.”
