Here's a "Safe" Place for Sales Professionals to Grow
Wouldn’t you just love to belong to an organization that provides opportunities to work on your own skills and to network – without having to sell?
Surprise (you knew this was coming, didn’t you?)! There is one. The Sales Association, based in Denver, Colorado, turns two years old next month and is growing like crazy.
This was Troy Davis’ brainchild. Sure, different industries provided educational opportunities and places to network, but participating sales professionals felt an obligation to sell and make deals. Davis wanted an organization dedicated to the sales folks themselves where they were safe to advance themselves without the pressure of selling.
He turned to Jeff Arnold and Robert Spangler, who run an association management company, and The Sales Association was born. Arnold is Education Director, Spangler is Executive Director and Davis is President.
For Davis, it’s been a labor of love and a volunteer sidelight for him. Matter of fact, he’s just starting a new sales job with JD Powers in Boulder, Colorado.
Davis “has been the driving force as far as the volunteer side of it,” says Arnold. “Conceptually, Troy was the guy who brought the idea to the table.”
Denver is the association’s flagship. Last fall it expanded to Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. More growth is coming.
Spangler adds details in the video below. Watch that, then scroll way down to the comments section and tell us if this association makes sense to you.
