Disney Mobile For Tweens
In one commercial, a boy provides his parents a printout of his day's itinerary, which includes a "pickup softball game" with Ben and "climbing the big tree" at Sam's. In another ad, a boy is diligently doing chores around the house and his mother finally catches on that he's trying to earn more minutes. A third ad shows a brother assuring his sister she'll get a Disney Mobile phone if she shows "maturity and judgment." Just then her phone rings.
Parents of tweenagers know that they are uber connected, and while many of us are resisting the cell phone plea, it's really only a matter of time until we cave in and relent to their demands in this area. Disney is making your job much harder by releasing a cell phone that's a parent's best friend.
With their new cell they've determined just what parents complain about when considering a cell phone and answered the objections with positives:
1. Set usage hours
Block out a time period (school) from placing or receiving calls/texts.
2. Family alerts
Block out any other usage until the alert has been answered (no more ignoring calls from mom/dad).
3. Family timers.
Define call alottments for individual users.
4. Family locators.
GPS helps families check to see if Emily made it to the soccer game w/o having to call her and interrupt practice.
Will I get the phone? Hmm... Maybe we've picked our first stocking stuffer.
