Business Poem #9 - Two Poems About Decisions
Poetry is often the best way to express deep emotion, toil, angst, and trouble. Many managers struggle a great deal with making decisions - some become physically ill at the thought. Here are two poems about heavy business decisions.
The Decision Sonnet
The work world weighs on the manager´s mind
What to do among so many answers
Facts, folly, invention, and hope intertwined
At stake are jobs, people, clients, and dollars
Choice is fear is chilling and a horror
The weak defer to willing surrogates
Then become inert and anemic leaders
Jeers to the managerial cheapskates
The lions of the workplace must rescue
Teams, their puny peers, and enterprise
Courage and strength can produce a breakthrough
Proactivity and strength make them wise
Decisions, while tough, are management metal
They build character, strength, trust and muscle
The Decision Haiku
Oh, the angst of choice
Acid churning, can't think straight-
Big leap, then relief
