Business Poem #11 - Payal Problems
Paypal - aarrghh!
I have been one of millions of victims of the recent multiday outage of Paypal. I just launched my boss's day product, which has a short window of opportunity. The very same window, it turns out so far, as the Paypal outage. Paypal processes my credit card orders - in theory.
We don't realize how important to our businesses our online vendors are until they fail - or I didn't. These past days have tested my patience, of which I generally have little.
To deal with some of the stress and feelings of helplessness, I wrote a couple business poems about the whole Paypal incident. How does this relate to management? When stuff like this happens, it's crunch time and nothing else matters - same for small businesses and big companies. We all need a way to get productive and make the most of the situation.
Silent Cash Register
The anguish is sharp and unmatched
And the stress could crush an elephant
I feel like my spirit has been snatched
By my credit card merchant
Never ready to have intricate planning foiled
Creations tossed aside, blocked and invalidated
It just can´t be, how could my work be so easily spoiled
My cash register is silent when it should be flooded
Paypal, how could you have let this happen
So many relied on your steadfastness and trusted you
Please tell me this mess you will straighten
I need to take orders now, today, without further adieu
Rescue
Try voodoo
Hire a guru
Work past curfew
Do what you have to
We need a rescue
