Burger King's Table Guests
File this under oddly stimulating.
Burger King's table buddy campaign is aimed at all of us who have to 'get our BK on' alone. If you are frequently alone while you eat your Whopper, you can bring your burger home, boot up your computer, and dine with one of 6 characters on their website. In true chauvanistic style, you have 3 Maxim hotties, 2 dumb guys who are included for comic relief and a race car driver. With this lineup it's clear that Burger King is hoping that young guys online will pass this around, and they're probably going to be very successful in achieving that aim.
BK has been toying with a bizarre advertising focus for the last year or so and the experiment's success is apparent. The King is certainly recognizable and his strange, even disturbing, morning wake up calls are resonating with their target audience. Burger King is seen as more hip than McDonalds, Wendy's, etc. already.
The question is, are they doing away with the King, or are they just supplementing his oddness with a bit more in these table buddies? I don't have the answer for that. However, I have to say they have a beautiful site, clean design, and aside from the choice in buddies (what, no eye candy for the ladies?), I'm very impressed with the spot (first seen on yPulse).
Haven't seen it on YouTube yet, but I'm sure it's coming.
