At BlogOn Conference
This week, I am at the BlogOn Conference, and will be both speaking and blogging the event for the blog. The keynote of the conference today is Seth Godin, who is speaking about blogging and marketing.First piece of advice from Godin: do less. There are so many blogs, so many podcasts, that if one disappears, no one is going to care. And while there are three types of blogs: personal/cat blogs, boss/have to read blogs, and viral blogs - the type of blog we all want for marketing.
And, while at BlogOn, he demo'ed Squidoo, his new service where you are to find the lens - the focus point that should be there for blogs, and the interests of the person that is writing the blog. On Squidoo, well, it is about the lens. It's about digging in, and finding what you are looking for. And, Squidoo is free and it's about connecting the lenses, and helping people find authorities, experts.
Well, that's what I took from the speech.
As for PR - well, the twist is that you need to find those lenses, you need to find those people that are interested in your product, those that are sneezers and are viral, and will spread the love about your product.
But, that is more than just that - it's about reaching people, about finding those customers that are going to care about your product, and that goes beyond blogs but simple PR and simple marketing.
