Here are five practices you can put into place this year that will lead to more resilientcy and employability in this rapidly changing global economy.
1. Learn new skills on your own, continuously. The internet is full of tutorials and videos that can help. Start with something simple you have on your to do list like downloading skype and learning to use your webcam, growing vegetables or maybe creating the best cupcakes from scratch.
2. Study local, national and global business and political trends. Do you know the growth industries in the markets where you will be working? Are you keeping up on emerging industries and markets?
3. Study yourself. Do you know your passions, talents and purpose? If not, spend time exploring new possibilities and articulating what is true for you.
4. Dream. Set aside time and space to think, brainstorm, imagine and innovate your best future.
5. Reinvent yourself before you are in a crisis, if possible. Attend to #1-4 each week and make concrete plans to expand your knowledge of positive possibilities and then, take actions to sculpt your next career chapter.
