Think Twice Before Skipping Legal Requirements For Your Small Business
Small Business Q&A
I have started my own baseball/softball training school. I have been doing this for 8 years and on my own since Nov. I am just now fixing to get in a building w/little overhead and investment. Some people have advised me to not even get a business license and insurance being that I strictly train kids one at a time usually. What advice would you give making sure this goes right with little to no money.
I would definitely not rely on the advice of "some people."
You should adhere to the laws for your area of the country when it comes to licensing issues. There would be nothing worse than dealing with the hassle of bringing your business up to state law requirements after the fact. Just do the right thing the first time.
The same approach applies to your insurance requirements. It may be necessary legally to have insurance for your type of business. You should check with an attorney to determine your business exposure and what would be right for your business.
Doing the right thing now will save you much time, hassle and probably money in the long run.
