The Recycled Gown At The Formal Business Function
I recently went to a formal business function hat was full of both existing and potential clients. It was a tuxedo and gown affair and everyone was dressed in gleaming, evening wear.
So was I because if I needed to look good at any time, it was this occasion. The dress looked fantastic and I looked good in it, made some great contacts and had a wonderful time.
The dress, a shimmering, sweeping, red number, cost me all of $8 from a Charity shop, yet looked a million dollars. I am an advocate for recycling, almost all my clothes, including business suits.
Recycling is important. Every new piece of clothing we buy:
- Is usually made in an Asian sweatshop
- Uses toxic and environmentally-harmful dyes and bleaches,
- May be made of fabrics such as cotton, that uses an enormous amount of scarce water to grow
- Releases emissions through the process of creation as well as the miles of transportation to your local shop
There are plenty of wonderful, even new-looking outfits in the racks of charity and recycled clothing shops. You also save a huge amount of money and still look a million dollars!
