The Operations of a Franchise
How important is a franchise operations manager in the day-to-day running of a franchise?
Besides OPM (other people's money) for the sake of franchise fees and total initial investment, the other key element supplied by the franchisee is "management time and effort".
Whether a franchisee assumes the role of onsite manager or hires out that function, it remains the franchisee's responsibility to run the business well (in accordance with the terms of the franchise agreement penned by the franchisor).
That being said, the fundamental difference between a franchise network and a company owned chain is that the franchisor rarely assumes operational control of individual units except for auditing performance.
