The Oldest Network Marketing Company
A lot of home based businesses are network marketing businesses (aka, "multi-level marketing" companies). Depending on whom you talk to, network marketing is either the most wonderful business model ever or it's a scam. The truth is, some network marketing companies are actually scams (or to use a better term: illegal), while others offer a perfectly legitimate home business opportunity.
Network marketing has been around for a very long time. What was the first one? If you said "Amway," that's the wrong answer. Go back further. Did you say "NutraLite"? Nope, go back even further. A company sea vegetable supplement company named Wachter's started as the first network marketing company in 1932, during the Great Depression of the 1930s. (NutraLite started in the 1940s.)
Wachter's remained in business for 89 years and only recently closed. During its lifetime, many other companies came and went. Some had success, others flopped badly. Today there are hundreds and hundreds of network marketing companies to choose from. Here is a current list of some active multi-level marketing companies.
If you are considering joining this kind of company, be sure to do your research first.
