Tax ID and Company Information Sheet

I received a comment via email from a reader. who is a CPA. regarding my post the other day on how to Establish Yourself with A Company Information Sheet. Among other things, he had this to say: 'Don't put your Federal ID number on anything you pass out.'

That's really good advice and I probably should have made more of the confidential aspect of that information. If the company information sheet is going to be handed out a lot.... I agree: leave off the Tax ID. That's very sensitive information and needs to be treated as such. On the other hand, if you are asking for terms from a supplier, you will need to provide that Tax ID. Perhaps the best thing is to just memorize your Tax ID and have them contact you if they need it.
