Why on earth would people in Texas choose the middle of July to have a giant outdoor party? Probably for the same reason that Minnesotans choose the middle of January to go fishing! Americans are a tough breed, and we’re not the sort of folks to be beaten down by a bit of hot or cold weather. Besides, where on earth are you going to get better BBQ, better Fajitas, or fresher flour tortillas than “Small Town” Texas, hmm?
Your next question is probably, “Where on earth is Clute?” That’s an easy one. Clute sits just outside the southwestern edge of the Houston “sprawl.” If your business takes to you Houston, you’d have no excuse whatsoever to miss the Mosquito festival. It’s the perfect excuse to buy yourself that first cowboy hat to shade your eyes from the sun. Don some shorts and a breezy cotton shirt and toss a few horseshoes with the locals. If you choose to sit in your hotel room with the thermostat cranked down to 62, then you’ll feel the shame… I promise!
