We get a lot of questions about QuickBooks functionality…will QuickBooks do this or will QuickBooks do that. QuickBooks is a very robust accounting application that will do a lot of things but sometimes we have to go outside of QuickBooks in order to get QuickBooks to do the things we need it to do or to simplify and/or speed up the things that we are doing.
One case in point is a project I did for a company out of Oklahoma City that needed sales logged in Microsoft Excel to be imported into QuickBooks as invoices so that the customer could be billed. QuickBooks, internally will not handle this, but…there were options. We used a product called TPI (Transaction Pro Importer) from Baystate Consulting to make this happen. It has a small learning curve but was able to make it happen for my customer and saved hours of data entry per month as well as eliminate data entry errors.
In addition, I had the opportunity to go The Sleeter Group’s annual conference this month…what an exceptional conference! If you are involved in accounting and/or accounting software, especially QuickBooks – this is a need to attend event! What does that plug have to do with this blog post?
Glad you asked…Every year, The Sleeter Group announces the winners of The Awesome Add-On Awards..here is a partial re-post of those awards…you can see the entire article here.
After thoroughly vetting these programs, we select those that
demonstrate superior integration with QuickBooks, ease-of-use, overall
design, outstanding features and conformance with appropriate
accounting standards, said Doug Sleeter, founder of The Sleeter Group. In short, before we call it ‘awesome,’ a product must prove its
potential value to the small business market.
