Definition for: Rental Application
A "rental application" is a form to be filled out by a prospective tenant in order for the landlord to determine the creditworthiness of the applicant and other important information relevant to the landlord's decision of whether or not to rent the premises to the applicant. A rental application will typically request the following information:
- Name, address and social security number
- Yearly income
- Past rental history
- Name and phone number of prior landlord
- Authorization to run a credit check
