Most Americans want to be their own Boss
A recent Gallup Poll has indicated that 61 percent of Americans have a preference to be their own boss. That would seem to indicate they have interest in starting a business. The most simple way for most Americans to start a business is right at home. Like they say: Things begin at home.
If you look deeper at that number, I think you will find that people are losing confidence in the traditional ways of making money via "jobs". The worst layoffs of course have occurred in the past 18 months and this has shaken confidence in that way of making a living. When the economy begins to recover, will people forget about this recession? Many will, but many will not.
People who are interested in starting a home based business are attracted to the idea for another reason. They are realizing that aside from money, another valuable commodity is time. People who start a home based business must put a value on their time and break away from the 'time clock' mentality.
Now having a "preference to be your own boss" and actually pursuing that desire are two different things. Some people will never take it beyond a whim but others will actually take some action toward that idea.
