High Impact Management by Lisa Hanenberg
I just heard through the "blogvine" that Lisa Haneberg, a fantastic management expert and author is going to re-release her book "High Impact Middle Management: Solutions for Today's Busy Managers" and I'm glad to hear that more people will have the opportunity to read this in-depth and valuable book for managers.
Lisa sent the book to me and I spent about two hours today reading it and think it's just a great read and she's releasing an updated soft cover version soon. In particular, I enjoyed Lisa's take on HIMM. Power Partnership in a chapter by the same name.
To quote from the book, "Partners seek each other out and proactively involve each other in day-to-day management conversations and decisions." And then Haneberg details a combination of 7 traits which help partnerships emerge:
1. Shared purpose
2. Shared ownership
3. Mutual trust
4. Critical thinking
5. Shared success and failure
6. Effective inclusion and communication
I'm excited about seeing the book come out in softcover, but until then I'll be reading Lisa's blog and keeping up on her insightful and thoughtful posts about leaders, managers and teams, and how they can all work more cohesively and successfully with one another.
And by the way, happy Thanksgiving! Take a rest and read a good fiction book. If you're a parent and trying to decide a good YA novel to pick up for a stocking stuffer, I highly recommend Beth Kephart's "Undercover". Beth's novel last week was just chosen as one of Amazon's top ten YA novels and also this week UNDERCOVER garnered a prestigious Kirkus YA Best Books of ‘07 Selection.
It is an amazing book and my 12 year old daughter read it in two nights and simply could not put it down. (When your household is still suffering the aftereffects of "no more Harry Potters" believe me this is a great thing). I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
