Funny Stories from a Flight Attendant II
Every month, my “Blog
Boss” sends me an email with a bunch of reports that contain lots of numbers
and graphs and charts that detail the history of these articles that I
write. They break down things like how
many hits each article gets per month, per week, per day, etc. Once in awhile, I get just curious enough
have a look at them and it is pretty interesting to see what the top five
most popular articles are. Leading the
pack by far (it’s not even close) is the first article I wrote about some funny
stories I’d heard from a friend of mine who is a flight attendant. In a blatantly obvious attempt to gain even
more popularity, I’ve decided to write a sequel to that article today!
My friend Cindy is a
flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.
She was recently telling me of a story where she was forced to remove a
passenger from a flight, just for being stupid!
Well; it was probably more for being dangerous; in a stupid way. You be the judge. Cindy was standing at the boarding door of
the aircraft, in an airport where there was no jet-way. Passengers had to walk from the waiting area
in the airport, out onto the tarmac, and then up a set of mobile stairs to
board the aircraft. As people were
lining up to mount the stairs, Cindy noticed one young blonde gal who had
decided to have a quick “last cigarette” prior to boarding the plane. There she stood, slightly away from the
bottom of the steps, lighting up her cigarette; in front of an enormous truck
that was in the process of pumping hundreds of gallons of jet fuel into the
tanks of the plane!! There were, of
course, signs everywhere alerting people to the danger of fuel/fire, but I
guess this gal thought she was special.
I wonder if she lights up while pumping gas into her car, also.
Leslie is a flight
attendant for Delta, and used to work for Northwest Airlines prior to Delta’s
takeover. She’s been a flight attendant
for more than 20 years and is a wealth of great stories. She told me about a man she had to deal with
once on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta.
About an hour into the flight, this man entered the 1st class
lavatory. He was a coach class passenger
who had walked through the 1st class cabin to gain access to the
bathroom just outside the cockpit (a violation of the security policy).
Leslie noticed him,
but chose not to harass him to ask him to return to his seat. Fully 30 minutes later however, he was still
in there! Fearing that this minor
violation of security rules might well escalate into a full security incident,
she knocked on the door to check that everything was OK. He cracked open the door and what Leslie saw,
shocked her. Past the man’s face, she
saw through the reflection in the mirror that this man was completely naked,
and covered in a lather of soap! He was
taking a “shower” with the meager supply of water that trickled out of the
sink! The floor was soaking wet with dirty,
sudsy water and it was starting to leak out into the rest of the cabin. She told him that he was required to dress
himself immediately and return to his seat.
She also notified the captain who agreed to file a security incident report
and at the conclusion of the flight, the man was escorted away by the TSA for a
more detailed discussion regarding his shower!
