    Facebook Page for TechBizTalk

    This week I launched a new site and brand for my company: TechBizTalk. I've already mentioned it, but thought I should explain it just a bit and then explain why I launched on Facebook.

    First, most of my work has involved reviewing applications, testing software, analyzing how well a particular service works for increasing sales or driving traffic.  And most of that was oriented at sales and marketing, but then I started to expand and my sales brands no longer covered it.

    So, TechBizTalk was born after some market testing of a bunch of different names. 

    Why Facebook instead of a website especially since I've slammed biz owners who would forsake their own websites in favor of being inside a walled garden (as Anita Campbell often explains it -- and not just about Facebook).  I have built a basic site and plan to launch a more detailed content site in the next 4-6 weeks, but I wanted the opportunity to build within Facebook. First, because I avoid FB for my own work. Sure, I share things, like them, post on people's walls, but I didn't think I'd use it for my own company.  I knew I shouldn't avoid it so I decided to dive in and get completely wet.

    Second, by launching there, I get lots more feedback, not for my ego, but for refining what I do and making it truly customer-centered.  I've figured out how to do things that were driving me crazy -- thanks to help from a number of experts. Mari Smith, Mike Mueller, Marsha Collier, Melinda Emerson, Anita Campbell, and a few other special folks from my network.

    I've tested four landing page vendors and written about them for my American Express OPEN Forum column (will come back in and update when that goes live).  Marsha Collier clued me into Hy.ly and I'm spending a bunch of time with their app. You can earn HyPoints and basically get your service for free.  Oh, this landing page concept is really one of your nav items on your Facebook page -- a "tab" if you will (before FB changed the structure and they don't look like tabs anymore...).  I'm working on a screencast about Hy.ly and at first I found it confusing, but I think that was operator-error. Actually, I'm certain of it given my lack of sleep. 

    So, please join me over on Facebook and share apps you're building or apps your company is using.
