Dictionary of Marketing Terms: work print
work print
Film production: dub of an original film that is used for editing so that the master will remain intact.
Television commercial production: assemblage of scenes that have been selected from the assembly dailies and placed in proper sequence without the opticals ( dissolves, wipes, etc.), titles, or any supers; also called rough cut. As the name implies, this is the print to which scenes will be added, deleted, or substituted and on which other changes will be made until the director feels that the footage is right and the other elements can be added. When the work print is complete to the director's satisfaction, a composite print will be made. See also answer print; final print; interlock.
