Dictionary of Marketing Terms: wire side
wire side
- side of uncoated paper that is formed against the wire. For paper made on a Fourdrinier machine, the wire side is rougher and is generally not the side printed. For paper made on a cylinder machine, the wire side is the smoother, printing side. The wire side of coated paper cannot be distinguished from the felt side.
