Definition of turnaround document

computer-created form that will be used to enter data to the computer. For example, some invoices or subscription renewal promotions are created by first selecting names and addresses from a computerized customer file along with any relevant information, such as amount due and/or customer matchcode. This information is then printed onto a turnaround document, which is sent to the customer. The customer submits a payment or indicates his decision to renew, and returns the document to the sender. The document is then used to enter a payment or renewal transaction to the computer file. Turnaround documents that include a matchcode or keyline identifying the customer and the type of transaction can be scan entered (see scan entry) rather than key entered (see key entry), saving time and expense.
