a computer pointing device that resembles an upsidedown mouse. Instead of rolling the mouse around the desktop, the user rotates the ball on the trackball with a thumb or finger.Trackballs are frequently used with notebook computers. which are often used where there is not enough desktop space to operate a mouse.
