The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE)
founded in 1875, the BSE, formerly known as the Bombay Stock Exchange, is Asia's oldest stock exchange. In 2005, it was in the process of demutualizing. The exchange had an open outcry trading system until March 1995 when it switched to a fully automated computerized mode of trading known as BOLT (BSE on Line Trading). Until 1996, the member-brokers of the BSE could only open trading terminals within the city limits of Mumbai, but they can now install their trading terminals at any place in the country including in the jurisdictional areas of other regional stock exchanges. BOLT Trading Hours: 9:55 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. www.bseindia.com.
