Dictionary of Banking Terms: teller
teller
bank employee who accepts deposits, cashes checks, and performs other banking services for the public. In most financial institutions, tellers work from behind a counter or enclosure. Large banks assign teller functions by job description: a mail teller processes incoming bank deposits arriving through the mail; a loan teller keeps a record of payments to customer accounts; and a note teller handles the collection of funds on notes and drafts payable by other banks.
