Dictionary of Business Terms: Tablet PC
Tablet PC
a notebook computer with a sensitive screen, running under a special version of the windows operating system. Using a special pen instead of a keyboard or mouse, a user can write directly on the screen, much as one would write on a tablet or slate. Built-in handwriting recognition technology converts the handwritten input to editable text; text can also be entered on an onscreen keyboard display, and some Tablet PCs, similar to notebook computers, have attached keyboards. Unlike a touch screen, the Tablet PC screen receives information only from the complementary pen, not a stylus, finger, or any other pressure.
