Dictionary of Marketing Terms: stock shot
stock shot
photograph or filmed footage of an action, scene, or special effect, such as a sunrise, that is stored in a production studio library or special effects library and can be borrowed from the library and inserted into a film, program, or commercial where the script calls for such a scene; also called library shot. The use of a stock shot does not require a credit line nor an additional payment to models or talent who appear in the shot.
