Dictionary of Real Estate Terms: starter home
starter home
a modest-sized (less than 1,500 square feet), basic house that is in the price range of the typical first-time homebuyer. In many markets, this entry-level home could be a condominium.
Example: Sally wanted to buy a home but had never owned one before and had little cash to complete the transaction. She found an ideal starter home in a small two-bedroom cottage in a clean but modest neighborhood.
