special report
type of auditor's report that is prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). It attempts to elaborate, explain, or exhibit in a prescribed fashion certain sections, accounts, or items of a financial statement. Examples of such reports are cash receipts/disbursements reports, proposed acquisitions, and tax basis financial statements. Financial statements may be prepared in accordance with rules other than gaap, such as insurance regulatory requirements.
