sharpen
a photopaint filter that sharpens the focus of a defined area by unsharp masking. It can improve a slightly blurred image. (Don't expect miracles-the computer cannot compute information that is not in the original picture!) If overused, the sharpen filter can overemphasize small random specks or film grain because it works by increasing the difference between adjacent pixels. For technical details, see convolution.
