share of voice (SOV)
percentage of advertising for one brand in a particular product category as compared to other brands in the same category. If five different brand names advertise in one product category and the percentage of advertising for one of them is 60% of the total volume of advertising in that product category, that brand will have the greatest share of voice (in that product category).
