scan document
document that can be read by an optical character recognition machine, commonly referred to as a scanner. Most scan documents are reply forms or turnaround documents printed according to the requirements of the scanner that will be used. Documents to be scanned must meet various specifications, including paper weight, paper reflectivity, ink reflectivity, print quality, size, and so forth. Most scan documents are preprinted in a special machine-readable fonts or bar code; however, some hand-printed documents can also be scanned.
