Dictionary of Banking Terms: rubber check
rubber check
slang term for bad check; a check drawn on an account with insufficient funds, also known as a bounced check. A bank may pay the resulting overdraft if the customer has either a satisfactory credit relationship with the bank or an overdraft line of credit. The customer, however, may still be liable for overdraft charges to cover the bank's costs in processing the check.
