roll identification
information printed on a 1-up roll of mailing labels to ensure that the labels are applied to the appropriate mailing pieces and to provide control information, such as the number of rolls in the mailing and the sequence in which they should be applied to maintain the postal presort sequence; also called roll tag. For example, magazine label rolls include the name of the publication and the issue, edition name, and entry point.
