Rock Ridge
a compatible extension to the ISO 9660 CD-ROM format, allowing longer filenames, commonly used in UNIX systems. On computers that do not support Rock Ridge format, the discs can still be read, and the files still have unique names, but the names are shortened. Compare Joliet file system.
