Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms: RFC
RFC
- (radio-frequency choke) an inductor (coil) designed to keep highfrequency signals from flowing into power supply lines and other interconnections. See RFI protection.
- (Request For Comment) one of numerous documents defining the standard for the Internet. All are supposedly unofficial, although most are followed universally. For example, RFC 822 specifies the format for e-mail messages in transit. RFCs are available online at www.cis.ohiostate.edu/hypertext/information/rfc.html and other sites.
