Dictionary of Marketing Terms: prescore
prescore
recording of the sound or music track of a motion picture before filming or videotaping. Prescoring is performed prior to the actual production to check timing and determine how well the score works with the production's visuals. To prescore, a sound track is laid down on film in order to set up a basic "rough track" of the score. After the content of the sound or music track is finalized from the prescore trials, scoring for the production is then completed.
