Pentium
a high-performance microprocessor introduced by Intel in 1993, software-compatible with the 8088 used in the original IBM PC.
The name "Pentium" is from the Greek word pente meaning "five." If the original numbering scheme had continued, the Pentium would have been known as the 586.
