date new issues of a periodical are scheduled to be delivered by the wholesaler or distributor to newsstands for sale to the public. The on-sale date drives the publication and printing process. Most wholesalers prefer to have monthly publications in hand within 10 days of the on-sale date, and weekly publications within 5 days. This schedule determines when the publication must be printed, when all copy and art must be submitted, and so forth.
