Definition of New York Board of Trade (NYBOT)

Commodity exchange that trades futures and options contracts on coffee, sugar and cocoa, cotton, ethanol, and frozen concentrated orange juice and pulp, as well as an array of currency and index futures and options. NYBOT was formed in 1998 when the Coffee and Sugar and Cocoa Exchange merged with the New York Cotton Exchange, the oldest commodity exchange in New York. Trading for commodities is by open outcry, from 8 A.M. to 4:15 P.M., Monday through Friday. NYBOT also has a financial derivatives division, with a trading floor in Dublin, creating a 24-hour market in most currency contracts. NYBOT Europe trades futures and futures options contracts on the U.S. Dollar Index and Euro, U.S. dollar currency pairs, and Euro-paired and cross-rate currencies. Trading hours are 8:05 A.M. to 3 P.M., New York time, concurrently in Dublin, Monday to Friday. NYBOT's futures contracts trade from 9:30 A.M. to 4:15 P.M., Monday to Friday. www.nybot.com.
