Dictionary of Marketing Terms: Multigraph
Multigraph
letterpress printing machine that utilizes a cylindrical drum to create the impression. Special type characters are inserted into the cylinder, which is then inked with a roller or an inking ribbon (depending on the operator's requirements for the printing job). Reproductions are made when paper is passed under the revolving cylinder. The Multigraph can also print illustrations provided they are drawn on special forms curved to fit the cylinder. With the increased availability of photocopy machines, use of the Multigraph is decreasing. It is primarily used today by small businesses, schools, churches, and rural libraries.
