management information systems (MIS)
a field of study that deals with effective systems for the development and use of information in an organization. The complete information system includes not just the computers but also the people. Any effective information system must determine:
- what the goals of the organization are;
- what information is needed to accomplish those goals;
- how that information is originated;
- how the information needs to be stored and transferred to accomplish those goals.
